Now more than ever public utilities are concerned about emerging cybersecurity threats and their impacts on critical communications. This presentation will examine this topic from a standards perspective and from an operational perspective. This presentation will focus on best practices to hardening communications networks based on real-world implementations. For example:
 
·Keeping your network current
·Staying abreast of newly identified threats and assessing emergent risks
·Continuously monitoring the network
·Establishing a plan for how to respond to a security breach
·Considering cybersecurity capabilities of potential vendors when procuring new networks
·Implement Risk Management Framework (RMF)
