Description:Across the country water & gas utilities are evaluating & deploying AMI, & municipalities are increasingly deploying smart city applications. These utility & city stakeholders face mounting pressure from regulators & elected officials to leverage existing telecommunications networks–thereby avoiding the cost & effort required to build a redundant network across the same geography. Simultaneously, electric utilities are exploring the possibility of leveraging their AMI networks for new applications & commodities. For utilities who already built an AMI network, network commercialization can generate revenue, provide customer rate relief, improve community relations & enhance network strength/redundancy at a low cost.
